Fujinon XF 18-135mm F/3,5-5,6 R LM OIS WR is an underrated lens, because wide range of focal length suggests poor optical performance. And to some extent it is true – it is hard to expect extraordinary image quality. But on the other hand this lens is very universal, quite good to take photos as well as make video, where even in 4K mode we will not use the full resolution of the sensor and optics.
In case of photographs definitely it is visible that XF 18-135 is not a high end lens. It is far behind not only fixed focal length lenses but also behind better zooms. Nevertheless, it is a good choice for all the family and casual shots. And it is a good choice when we want to limit the gear up to single lens only.

Update – August 2017
Departing for summer holidays this year I was scratching my head about what to take with me in terms of photo gear. I had to minimize it, so my choice was X-T2 + XF 18-135. Such set has proven to be very universal, but at the same time some drawbacks became quite apparent. First, the optical quality is acceptable only for small pictures, to be seen on the standard screen. It is enough for shots for Internet, buit definitely not for big prints. Second, the focal length ring moves hard and irregular. I can forget about smooth zooming during making video. But on the other hand the comfort of having so wide range of the focal lengths was apparent. And AF as well as image stabilization, both worked perfect during taking shots as well as filming.
